Reading Club – Key Stage Two Students

We have an exciting opportunity here at Myrtle Learning. We will be beginning a reading club for Key Stage Two students and your child is invited to join! 

This will take place twice a week, with two short – burst sessions online. The reason for this is to ensure we have time to read, discuss and share ideas within our first session, and complete a fun activity based on the reading completed, with time to present and share, in our second session – [Wednesday – 30 mins / Thursday – 30 minutes].  We will be reading both collaboratively and independently; completing different activities based on what we read. This will include: 

• Arts and crafts
• Drama and acting
• Music
• Writing
• Debates
• Comprehension quizzes

We will have weekly awards for students who have shown determination, resilience, progression in reading fluency, confidence within the group, a session outcome they are extremely proud of… the list goes on. These will be visible on the report section of your Myrtle Learning account. 

The reading club will give opportunities to present our projects and outcomes to family and friends, create new friendships and build on our own personal skills. We will be planning to have author visits and workshops to inspire and encourage a love for reading further, amongst other initiatives.
